FreeCell Solitaire
FreeCell is the solitaire game where every card is face up from the start, so you can plan each move. This version has large, clear cards, simple tap controls, and free Undo and Hint. It plays right on this page, with nothing to download and no account to create.
How to play FreeCell
- The goal: move all 52 cards to the four foundations at the top right, from Ace to King in each suit.
- Columns: put a card on a card one higher of the other colour, such as a red 6 on a black 7. Tap a card and it moves to the best place.
- Free cells: the four spaces at the top left each hold one card while you work. Any card can go there.
- Empty columns: any card can go into an empty column.
- Moving several cards: you can move a run of cards in order when there is room to do it one card at a time. Each empty free cell adds one card, and each empty column doubles the number. The game tells you how many cards you can move now.
Why many players like FreeCell
- No luck in the draw. All the cards are visible, so the game is about planning, not about which card turns up next.
- Almost every deal can be won. When a game goes wrong, Undo lets you go back and try another way.
- No time limit. Take as long as you like over every move. Your game is saved if you close the page.
Tips for winning more games
- Free the Aces and Twos first. Look for low cards near the bottom of the columns and clear the cards above them.
- Keep free cells empty. Each card in a free cell is one less space to work with. Use them for a card that you will move again soon.
- An empty column is worth more than a free cell. It holds a whole run, not just one card.
- Think before you fill the last free cell. With no free cells and no empty columns, you can only move one card at a time.
- Ask for a hint. Hint shows a move, and tells you when it cannot find one. Then Undo a few moves and try another way.

Frequently asked questions
Is FreeCell free to play here?
Yes. It is free, with no download and no sign-up. Small ads appear outside the game and never cover the cards.
Can every FreeCell game be won?
Almost every one. Very few FreeCell deals cannot be won, so if you are stuck, Undo some moves and try a different plan.
What are the free cells for?
Each free cell holds one card for a while, so you can reach the cards under it. The four free cells are at the top left of the table.
Why can't I move a whole run of cards?
The number of cards you can move at once depends on your empty free cells and empty columns. Empty a free cell or a column, and you can move more.
Is FreeCell harder than classic solitaire?
It is different. FreeCell has no hidden cards and no draw pile, so it rewards planning. Many players find it easier to win once they learn to keep free cells empty.
