Spider Solitaire
Spider Solitaire is played with two decks of cards and ten columns. This version has large, clear cards and simple tap controls. It starts with one suit, the easiest way to play, and Undo is free. There is nothing to download and no account to create.
How to play Spider Solitaire
- The goal: build eight full runs, each from King down to Ace in one suit. A finished run leaves the table by itself.
- Moving cards: put a card on any card one higher, such as a 6 on a 7. Tap a card and it moves to the best place.
- Moving runs: cards that are in order and all the same suit move together, like the 9, 8 and 7 of spades.
- Empty columns: any card or run can go into an empty column.
- Dealing: when you run out of moves, tap the deal pile at the top left. It puts one new card on every column. You get five deals, and every column needs at least one card before you deal.
One, two or four suits
Open Settings to choose how many suits are in the game. The change starts with your next game.
- One suit (all spades) is the easiest. Every card fits with every other card, so you can win most games. Start here.
- Two suits (spades and hearts) needs more planning, because only cards of one suit move together.
- Four suits is a real challenge, even for experienced players.
Tips for winning more games
- Turn over face-down cards first. Each card you uncover gives you more choices.
- Build in one suit when you can. A 6 of hearts on a 7 of hearts can move later as a pair. A 6 of hearts on a 7 of spades cannot.
- Keep an empty column for as long as you can. It is the most useful space on the table, because any run can go there.
- Make every useful move before you deal. A deal covers every column with a new card.
- Use Undo and Hint. Both are free. Hint shows a move that makes progress, and tells you when no useful move is left.
Easy to see on a small screen
Ten columns need more room than classic solitaire, so the cards are a little smaller. For bigger cards, turn your tablet or phone sideways, or press Bigger cards and scroll sideways to see every column. The large print solitaire page has more ways to make cards easier to read.
More games
Prefer a game with fewer cards? Try classic solitaire, which uses one deck and seven columns, or FreeCell, where every card is face up from the start. For a change from cards, play the memory matching game.
Frequently asked questions
Is Spider Solitaire free to play here?
Yes. It is free, with no download and no sign-up. Small ads appear outside the game and never cover the cards.
Which Spider Solitaire is easiest?
One-suit Spider is the easiest, because every card can go on any card one higher and every run can move together. It is the setting this game starts with.
How many times can I deal?
Five times. Each deal puts one card on each of the ten columns, so the deal pile holds 50 cards.
Why can't I deal new cards?
Every column needs at least one card before you deal. Move any card into the empty column, then tap the deal pile again.
Does my game get saved?
Yes. Your game is saved in this browser, so you can close the page and carry on later on the same device.
