How to play solitaire on an iPad

You do not need to install an app to play solitaire on an iPad. This game runs in Safari, the web browser that comes with every iPad. The same steps also work on an iPhone or an Android tablet.

Open the game

  1. Tap Safari.
  2. Tap the address bar at the top, type solitaireforseniors.com and tap Go.
  3. Tap a card to move it. That is all you need to start.

Put the game on your Home Screen

Then the game opens with one tap, like an app.

  1. Open the game in Safari.
  2. Tap the Share button: a square with an arrow pointing up. If you cannot see it, tap the ⋯ button first.
  3. Tap Add to Home Screen. You may need to scroll down to find it.
  4. Tap Add.

Make the cards easier to see

Tap instead of dragging

Tap a card and it moves to the best place. Dragging is off on touch screens, so a shaky finger cannot drop a card in the wrong place. If you prefer to drag, open Settings and turn on Allow dragging cards on a touch screen.

Sound

The game plays soft card sounds. To turn them off, open Settings and turn off Sound. If you hear nothing with Sound on, press the volume-up button on the side of the iPad.

Your game is saved

The game saves itself on your iPad. If you close Safari, your game is still there next time. Games are not saved in Private Browsing, and they do not move to your other devices.

Helping a parent get started

  1. Put the game on their Home Screen.
  2. Choose a card size together.
  3. On the first visit, press Show me for a short guide.
  4. Show them Undo. Nothing they tap can break the game.
